What is the breath test?+

It’s a non-invasive exam that measures the concentration of gases (hydrogen, methane and hydrogen sulfide) in exhaled breath to diagnose SIBO, IMO, food intolerances and H. pylori infection.

Does the breath test hurt?+

No. There are no needles, cuts or discomfort: the patient simply blows into a mouthpiece at regular intervals during the exam.

How long does the breath test take?+

Duration varies between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the substrate used (glucose, lactulose, lactose or fructose) and the condition being investigated.

What conditions can the breath test detect?+

The exam detects SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), IMO, lactose and fructose intolerance, and H. pylori infection, among other conditions.

Do I need any preparation before the exam?+
